Good afternoon this is Jeff Hodakowski, principal of Viewmont Elementary, with some announcements.

Attendance in school is very important.  If your child comes in after 8:30, please make sure you come in to sign them in.   Students must be at school by 11:30 in order to be considered present for the day.   We cannot let any student come in after 11:30.   If your child has been absent from school you must send in a note, with the reason, once they return in order for us to consider if the absence will be excused or unexcused.  If a note is not sent in, it is automatically considered unexcused.

If you ordered a Viewmont T-Shirt, they should be in this week and will be distributed to the students.

Dr. Robbie Adell, superintendent for Hickory Public Schools, will host the fourth public meeting of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council on Thursday, October 26. The evening event, open to the community, is scheduled for just one hour, from 6 PM – 7 PM and will be held in the media center of Grandview Middle School.

Following Dr. Adell’s opening remarks, Shawn Clemons, HPS director of accountability, will guide the audience through an examination of the North Carolina Testing System. She will provide information regarding required assessments for students enrolled in grades K-12 as well as measurements of the assessments.

The end of the first quarter is on Friday, October 27th.   Report Cards will come home on Monday, November 6th.

Students will be out of school on Monday, October 30th.   This is a Teacher's Workday.

Our Pack the Track fundraiser will take place on Friday, November 3rd.

Thanks and have a great afternoon.

It looks like the winter storm has taken another day from us. Students will be out of school on Monday, January 25th. There has not been a decision made about when the snow days will be made up at this time.

Lost and Found has multiplied. Please have students check the media center for any missing items. We will be getting rid of the items at the end of this week.

Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, January 26th. Awards Day will be on Wednesday, January 27th. Grades 3-5 will be at 9:00 and grades K-2 will be at 10:00.
