Good afternoon this is Jeff Hodakowski, principal of Viewmont Elementary, with some announcements.

One of our 4th graders teachers, Ms. Norton, has been nominated as a North Carolina School Hero.   If Ms. Norton finishes in the top 10 in the state, she will win $10,000 and Viewmont Elementary will win $10,000.  You can vote everyday for her up until March 15th.  The link is on our Viewmont PTA Facebook page and our Viewmont Elementary website.   Please vote and encourage others to vote so that Ms. Norton will finish in the top 10.     https://www.ncschoolheroes.com/

The Book Fair is coming.  The Book Fair will take place starting on Monday, February 24th, and will end on Friday, February 28th.   We will have a PTA Meeting and Family Book Fair Night on Tuesday, February 25th.  We will also have a curriculum night that evening sponsored by some of our specialists.  The event will begin at 6:00 pm.

The PTA would like to thank you for helping with our fundraiser.   The school raised over $1800.  More information about when the apples will be ready will be sent soon.

We are still looking at a date to reschedule our Reading Night.   We will have an upcoming Math Night on Thursday, March 5th.  The Math Night will take place at Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church located at 465 S. Center St, at 6:00 pm.

We are still collecting names and information on students that will start kindergarten during the 2020-2021 school year.  If you have a child or know someone that has a child that will be 5 before August 31st, and lives in the Viewmont District, please contact the school.

We will have some parent information sessions for rising kindergarten students interested in our Dual Language Program coming up soon.   Information will be posted on our website and on our PTA Facebook page.  The first 2 sessions are scheduled for Monday, March 2nd.   The first one is at 9:00 am and the second one is at noon.

Thanks and have a great afternoon!
