Good afternoon this is Jeff Hodakowski, principal of Viewmont Elementary, with some announcements.

Our Lost and Found continues to grow.  If your child is missing something, please have them check the back of the Media Center.

We have our last Positive Parenting Class coming up.  Raising Resilient Children will take place on Tuesday, April 16th at 6:00.  If you are interested in attending, please send in a note to your child's teacher so that we can plan accordingly.

We have a Wendy's Spirit Night on Tuesday, April 16th, from 5:00-8:00 at the Wendy's in Viewmont.   Wendy's will donate 25% of their sales during this time period, but you must turn in your receipt at the counter for us to receive credit.  Drive thru orders do count and just let them know that you are there to support Viewmont.

Field Day will take place on Thursday, April 18th.   Please look at our Viewmont Elementary PTA Facebook page for information and ways to help.

Spring Break is coming up soon.  Students will be out of school starting on Friday, April 19th, and will not return to school until Monday, April 29th.

Our McTeacher Night will be on Tuesday, April 30th, at the new McDonald's in Viewmont.   It will take place from 5:00-8:00.

Spring Fling will take place on Friday, May 3rd from 5:00-8:00.  Please look for more information to come home soon.

It is time to apply for NC Pre-K!  NC Pre-K is a free preschool for eligible four-year-old children in Catawba County.  There are many classroom locations across the county, including Viewmont Elementary.  If you know of any 4-year-old children who would benefit from participating in pre-k next school year, please encourage them to apply by May 30th.  Applications can be found at the elementary schools, at the Catawba County Partnership for Children, or online at www.catawbakids.com.  If you have questions you can call the Catawba County Partnership for Children at 828-695-6506.

Thanks and have a great evening.

It looks like the winter storm has taken another day from us. Students will be out of school on Monday, January 25th. There has not been a decision made about when the snow days will be made up at this time.

Lost and Found has multiplied. Please have students check the media center for any missing items. We will be getting rid of the items at the end of this week.

Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, January 26th. Awards Day will be on Wednesday, January 27th. Grades 3-5 will be at 9:00 and grades K-2 will be at 10:00.
