Message from Sunday, 10/14/2018

Good afternoon this is Jeff Hodakowski, principal of Viewmont Elementary, with some announcements.

Thank you to everyone that has come out and supported our different Spirit Nights.  We really appreciate you doing this and the funds we earn help out in the classroom.     Our next Spirit Night is at Salsarita's on Tuesday, October 16th, from 5:00-9:00.

Vision Screenings continue at the school this week.  During this week, 5th graders will be screened on Monday and Thursday.  If your child wears glasses or contacts, please make sure that they are wearing them.  Not every grade level will be screened.

Thank you for supporting our Book Fair.   It was a great success.

If you have been collecting Box Tops, please send them in this week.  The deadline is approaching for us to send them.

The School Store will be open this upcoming Friday from 8:00-8:30.

Our PTA Fall Fundraiser of selling apples is getting ready to start.  Sales will run from October 16th until October 31st.   Apples will be available for pick-up on Friday, November 9th from 8:00-2:00.  The 9th is also the day of our Pack the Track fundraiser.

We are getting ready to send out information about purchasing Viewmont t-shirts.   Every Friday we celebrate Spirit Day.  We encourage students to wear their shirts or they can wear our school colors of royal blue and white.

We will have a parenting workshop on Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:00.  A flyer will come home on Tuesday with more information.  We hope that you can attend.

When sending in money for field trips, please make sure that you send in the correct change or write a check payable to Viewmont Elementary.

Hickory Public Schools is partnering with Rotary International.   On Wednesday, October 24th, we will have a Pennies for Polio Day.  Their mission is to eradicate polio from the face of the earth.  There will be containers in the front of our Media Center on the 24th from 8:00-8:30 for the donations.   Let's show the Rotary Clubs that Viewmont will support this cause.

Thanks and have a great afternoon!

It looks like the winter storm has taken another day from us. Students will be out of school on Monday, January 25th. There has not been a decision made about when the snow days will be made up at this time.

Lost and Found has multiplied. Please have students check the media center for any missing items. We will be getting rid of the items at the end of this week.

Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, January 26th. Awards Day will be on Wednesday, January 27th. Grades 3-5 will be at 9:00 and grades K-2 will be at 10:00.
